Beschreibung

This shrimp has a disproportionate claw that produces a snap. Its coloration is generally beige or brown with spots. It lives in symbiosis with gobies of the genus Ctenogobius. It digs burrows under rocks. It is diurnal and feeds on small crustaceans and detritus. Its claw is used for defense and hunting. It reaches about 4 cm. It is an interesting species for reef aquariums.

Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. A minimum tank size of 30 liters is recommended. Sandy substrate and rocks are needed. Diet: small pieces of fish, shrimp, frozen foods. Moderate lighting, moderate flow. It can be territorial with other shrimp. Presence of a goby is beneficial. Captive breeding is rare.
