McCulloch's clownfish is a rare endemic species with a dark brown body and a broad vertical white bar. It is classified as vulnerable due to its very restricted range.
Beschreibung
This clownfish has a dark brown to blackish body with a single broad vertical white bar in the middle of the body. The fins are dark, sometimes with a slight orange tint. It reaches up to 12 cm. It is a semi-aggressive species that defends its territory. It lives in symbiosis with Heteractis crispa and Stichodactyla haddoni anemones. In an aquarium, it is rare and sought after. Its care is similar to other clownfish, but requires special attention to water quality. Captive breeding is possible but uncommon.

Stable parameters: temperature 24–28 °C, pH 8.1–8.4, GH 8–12 dGH, KH 8–12 dKH, nitrates < 20 ppm, phosphates < 0.1 ppm. A minimum 120-liter tank is recommended for a pair. Omnivorous diet should be varied: brine shrimp, mysis, flakes and quality pellets. This species is moderately aggressive; choose robust tankmates. It accepts anemones but can live without. Moderate lighting and strong filtration are recommended. Regular water changes (10% weekly) are crucial. Due to its vulnerable status, prefer captive-bred specimens.
