Beschreibung
Betta macrostoma is a labyrinth fish endemic to Borneo. It is distinguished by its particularly large mouth and developed fins. Males are very colorful with red, blue, and green hues. It lives in acidic blackwater of peat swamps. In the aquarium, it requires very soft, acidic water, low light, and plenty of hiding places. It is territorial but less aggressive than Betta splendens.

Species tank of at least 80L for a pair. Very soft water (GH < 5), pH 4.0-6.0, temperature 24-28°C. Gentle filtration, floating plants, hiding spots. Feed with live foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp).
