Beschreibung
Dicrossus filamentosus reaches 5 to 6 cm. Its body is elongated and slender, light brown to grayish, with a series of light spots along the lateral line. The dorsal and caudal fins are extended by long filaments, especially in males. It is a shy and peaceful fish that lives in a hierarchical group. It requires very acidic (pH 4-6) and very soft water (GH < 4). In the aquarium, it spawns on leaves or stones, with parental care. It is sensitive to nitrates and parameter fluctuations.

A minimum 60-liter aquarium is needed for a group of 6 to 8 individuals. Water must be very acidic (pH 4.0-6.0) and very soft (GH 1-4), with a temperature of 25-28°C. Use gentle filtration (sponge) and subdued lighting. Diet is carnivorous: micro-worms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and small pellets. Avoid active fish; dwarf tetras (Paracheirodon) or small catfish are compatible. Provide hiding places with roots, catappa leaves, and floating plants. Water changes should be done with RO water. Breeding is possible in a specific tank with very low pH.
