Beschreibung

This fish has a laterally compressed body, bright yellow with a black vertical band through the eye and a black spot on the dorsal fin. Its snout is elongated into a forceps-like shape, allowing it to feed on small invertebrates in crevices. It is generally peaceful but can become territorial with conspecifics. In aquariums, it requires a varied diet and excellent water quality. It can reach 22 cm.

Pflegehinweise

Minimum tank volume 300 liters. Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, alkalinity 8-12 dKH. Diet: omnivorous, will accept frozen foods, brine shrimp, mysis, and spirulina-based preparations. Sensitive to water quality and diseases. Compatible with other peaceful fish but not with other butterflyfish. Avoid shrimp and tubeworms as they may be eaten. Can be kept in reef tanks with caution.
