The glowlight tetra is named for a luminous orange stripe running across its body.

It reaches about 4 cm. Its body is translucent with an iridescent orange stripe from snout to tail. Fins are colorless. A schooling, peaceful and active fish. Less demanding than other tetras. Males are more colorful.
