Shelford's loach is a slender bottom fish, characterized by a dark longitudinal stripe. It is peaceful and lives in groups in soft, acidic waters.
Beschreibung
Pangio shelfordii reaches 8–10 cm. Its body is elongated, with a well-defined dark lateral line on a beige to light brown background. The fins are small and colorless. It is a burrowing fish that spends much time buried in sand, only the head protruding. It is gregarious and shy, requiring the presence of conspecifics. Its diet consists of small benthic invertebrates. In the aquarium, it is sensitive to water quality and unstable parameters. It cohabits well with peaceful fish such as small rasboras or corydoras.

Pflegehinweise
Provide an aquarium of at least 60 liters with fine sandy substrate and gentle filtration. Temperature 24–28 °C, pH 5.5–6.5, GH 2–6, KH 1–3. Water must be very clean and stable. Add catappa leaves and roots to acidify the water and provide hiding places. Feed with live foods (bloodworms, daphnia) and sinking pellets. Change 20% water weekly. Avoid boisterous fish. Breeding is difficult in captivity.
