This molly has a robust, slightly compressed body. Males are smaller and have a gonopodium. Coloration is generally silvery with bluish reflections and sometimes black spots. Females are larger and rounder. It is an active fish that prefers hard, slightly alkaline water. It can tolerate slight salinity. It breeds easily, with females giving birth to live fry.

Minimum 80-liter tank. Temperature 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, GH 15-30. Omnivorous, accepts flakes, algae, live foods. Adding aquarium salt (1 tsp per 20L) can be beneficial. Keep one male per two or three females. Compatible with other peaceful fish. Regular water changes. Ovoviviparous reproduction.
