Beschreibung
Pseudotropheus cyaneorhabdos has an elongated, fusiform body. Males are electric blue with a longitudinal black stripe on the flank; females are gray-blue with a less visible stripe. It reaches up to 8 cm. It is a maternal mouthbrooder. It feeds on algae and micro-invertebrates. It is one of the most aggressive mbunas for its size, requiring a spacious tank with many hiding places. It lives in groups with a strict hierarchy.

Temperature 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, GH 10-20. A minimum 300L tank is advised for a group of 6-8. The setup should be very rocky with many crevices. Herbivorous diet: spirulina, algae, vegetable pellets. Avoid meaty foods. Males are very territorial; a group with a single male or a ratio of 1 male to 4-5 females is best. Nitrates max 20 mg/L. Frequent water changes.
