Beschreibung
The Clown Rasbora can reach 10 cm. Its body is slender, silvery to pinkish with a dark horizontal stripe. The fins are often tinged with orange-red. It lives in schools in the blackwaters of peat swamps. It is an active and peaceful fish, but can be shy in small groups. It has a large mouth adapted for catching insects. In the aquarium, it appreciates hiding places and subdued lighting. Its coloration intensifies with a diet rich in carotenoids.

Ideal temperature between 24 and 28°C, very acidic pH 4.0 to 6.5, GH below 5. Water must be soft and rich in tannins (catappa leaves). A minimum tank of 100 liters is required for a group of 6 to 8 individuals. Feed with varied foods: bloodworms, brine shrimp, small insects, and quality flakes. Avoid strong currents. Compatible tankmates: small characins, corydoras, other rasboras. Water changes should be frequent but moderate to avoid disturbing chemistry. Breeding is difficult, requiring very soft and acidic water.
