The Honey gourami reaches up to 5 cm. Males during breeding take on a bright honey or orange color. Females remain duller. It has a labyrinth organ. It is a shy fish that prefers planted aquariums. It lives in groups and can be kept in pairs. It builds a bubble nest. Its lifespan is 2 to 3 years.

Temperature: 24-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5. A 40-liter tank is sufficient for a pair or small group. Soft to moderately hard water (GH 4-10). Varied diet: micro flakes, brine shrimp, daphnia. Plant densely and provide hiding spots. Avoid strong currents. Compatible with other small peaceful fish. Males are rarely aggressive. A lid is recommended. Easy species for beginners.
