Beschreibung
Trochus pyramis has a very high conical shell, pyramid-shaped, cream to gray with brown spiral bands. It can reach 8 cm in diameter. It moves slowly but grazes large areas of algae. Active day and night, it is often seen on rocks and substrate. Its operculum is thick and horny. It is very hardy and can survive in less stable conditions. It never attacks corals. Its large size requires a spacious aquarium.

Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. A tank of at least 100 liters is recommended due to its adult size. It feeds on algae, but may accept dried algae or vegetables. Nitrates should be below 20 ppm, phosphates below 0.1 ppm. It is compatible with all peaceful fish and invertebrates. Avoid predators that can flip it over. Slow acclimation is necessary. It can be kept alone or in small groups, but space must be sufficient.
