Tropheus duboisi is a striking cichlid from Lake Tanganyika, with a black body and a bright yellow band. It is a vulnerable species in the wild.
Beschreibung
Tropheus duboisi has a deep, laterally compressed body. Adults are black with a broad yellow vertical band across the mid-body, and white spots on the head. Juveniles are black with white spots. They are herbivorous, feeding on aufwuchs. They are highly aggressive and territorial. They are maternal mouthbrooders. Endemic to a small area near Kigoma, Tanzania. They are considered vulnerable due to overcollection and habitat degradation. They require pristine water conditions.

Tropheus duboisi requires a tank of at least 200 liters with plenty of rockwork. Water parameters: pH 8.0-9.0, temperature 24-27°C, GH 10-20, KH 12-18. Strict herbivorous diet: spirulina, blanched vegetables. Keep in groups of at least 5-6. Weekly water changes are essential. Nitrate < 20 ppm. Vulnerable species, prefer captive-bred specimens. Compatible with other Tropheus of similar size. Avoid overly peaceful fish. Strong filtration required.
