Description
Labeotropheus fuelleborni is characterized by a subterminal beak-like mouth adapted for grazing algae on rocks. Its body is stocky and laterally compressed. Males are bright blue with dark vertical bars, while females are brownish-yellow with variable patterns. It reaches 12–15 cm. It is a very active and territorial fish, often aggressive towards other Mbuna. In the wild, it lives in wave-swept rocky areas of Lake Malawi, feeding on algae. In the aquarium, it requires strong water flow and well-oxygenated water. Reproduction is maternal mouthbrooding.

Care notes
Temperature 24–28°C, pH 7.5–8.5, GH 10–20. A minimum 250-liter tank is recommended for a group of 3–5 individuals. Feed a primarily herbivorous diet of algae, spirulina, and vegetables. Strong water flow is appreciated, mimicking wave zones. It is aggressive and should be kept with robust, similarly sized species. Provide stable rockwork with hiding places. Regular water changes (20% weekly) are necessary. Powerful filtration and good oxygenation are essential.
