It reproduces quickly by vegetative division, forming dense colonies. In an aquarium, it can cover the entire surface if not controlled. It is very hardy and adapts to various water conditions. It serves as a refuge for fry and invertebrates. Its rapid growth makes it an excellent biological filter.

Duckweed is very easy to grow. It thrives under moderate to strong lighting, with a temperature of 15-30°C. A pH of 6.0-8.0 and low to moderate hardness are suitable. It absorbs nitrates and phosphates, helping to control algae. Avoid strong water flow that scatters the plants. Regular trimming is necessary to prevent total shading. It can be easily removed with a net. Be careful not to introduce it accidentally into natural waterways.
