Description

Melanotaenia parkinsoni reaches up to 10 cm. Its body is silvery with blue and green iridescence, and a dark horizontal stripe. Males are more colorful than females. This species is very active and lives in schools. It is known for its fast swimming and curious behavior. In the aquarium, it explores all levels. Its reproduction is typical of rainbowfish: spawning on fine plants.

Compatible with other peaceful fish of similar size. Provide planted decor with swimming spaces. Avoid aggressive tankmates. This species is sensitive to water quality; efficient filtration is required.
