Acarichthys heckelii
Acarichthys heckelii grows up to 18 cm. Its body is elongated, silvery with bluish reflections and a horizontal black line. The dorsal and anal fins are long and tapered, giving a graceful appearance. It is a gregarious fish that lives in schools in the wild. It is very peaceful and can coexist with tetras, corydoras, and other calm cichlids. It requires acidic, soft water to thrive. Breeding is possible in aquariums, on a hard surface or in a cave.

Care
Care notes
A minimum 200-liter tank is recommended for a group. Ideal temperature is 24–28°C, pH 5.5–7.0, GH 2–8. Fine sand substrate, roots, and catappa leaves create a favorable environment. Diet is omnivorous: small pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms, and vegetables. It is compatible with most peaceful medium-sized fish. Avoid aggressive species. Regular 20% weekly water changes are necessary. Breeding is facilitated by soft, acidic water with a bonded pair.
