PlantFreshwater

Amblystegium serpens is a slow-growing aquatic moss forming dense, low carpets. Its fine, branched stems bear small, oval bright green leaves. It attaches easily to rocks and driftwood, creating a natural look. In the aquarium, it prefers moderate light and does not require CO2. Growth is faster in cooler water. It provides excellent shelter for shrimp and fry. Its fine texture contrasts well with larger plants.

Care notes

This moss is easy to maintain. Ideal temperature 15-25°C, pH 6-7.5. Low to moderate light is sufficient. No CO2 needed, but light liquid fertilization promotes growth. It tolerates soft to moderately hard water. Avoid strong currents. Trim regularly to prevent matting. Compatible with most peaceful fish and shrimp. Can be used as foreground or on hardscape.
