Amphiprion melanopus has a bright orange body, with a large black area on the belly and lower part. A vertical white band crosses the eye. Fins are orange. It can reach 12 cm. It is a very territorial fish, especially towards other clownfish. It lives in symbiosis with anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor). It is omnivorous and readily accepts prepared foods. Captive breeding is common.
