Striped killifish
Aphyosemion striatum
This killifish reaches 4–5 cm. Males have a beige to yellow body with 4–6 brown longitudinal stripes, and fins tinted red and yellow. Females are duller with less distinct stripes. It is a peaceful species, ideal for a community tank of small fish. It prefers soft, slightly acidic water with dense vegetation. Reproduction is classic: substrate spawning (moss or peat) and dry incubation of 3–5 weeks.

Parameters: pH 6.0–7.2, GH 3–8, KH 1–4, temperature 22–26°C. Minimum 30 liters for a pair. Diet: brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, flakes. Gentle filtration, moderate lighting. Floating plants and hiding spots. Nitrates max 20 mg/L. Weekly 20% water changes. Compatible with small tetras, rasboras, corydoras. Avoid large or aggressive fish.
