PlantFreshwater

Aponogeton crispus is an aquatic plant with a tuberous rhizome. Its leaves are elongated, wavy on the edges, light green and translucent, reaching up to 40 cm. It produces a floating inflorescence with small white flowers. In an aquarium, it grows quickly and may flower if conditions are favorable. It loses its leaves during a dormant period (winter) then regrows from the tuber. It is ideal as a background or midground plant.

Care notes

This plant requires moderate to intense lighting, a nutrient-rich substrate (with root tabs), and soft to moderately hard water. Ideal temperature 22-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5. It benefits from CO2 injection and liquid fertilizers. A winter dormant period (lower temperature, less light) is beneficial to stimulate flowering. Avoid moving the tuber once planted. Compatible with most peaceful fish.
