The Eureka Peacock can reach 15 cm. Males are bright blue with metallic reflections, females are grey. It has pointed dorsal and anal fins. It is a mouthbrooder. It is calmer than mbunas but can be territorial towards conspecifics. It prefers clear, well-oxygenated water. Breeding is possible in an aquarium with a harem.

Care notes

Minimum 300 liter tank for a group. Temperature 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, GH 10-20, KH 8-12. Nitrates <20, phosphates <0.5. Carnivorous diet: pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms. Compatible with other peacocks and non-aggressive Malawi cichlids. Avoid overly active fish. Provide rocks and open swimming areas. Weekly water changes of 20%.
