This barb can reach 15 cm. Its silvery body has a round black spot at the base of the tail. The fins are transparent with yellowish reflections. It lives in schools and needs a group of at least 5. Omnivorous, it eats flakes, worms, and plant matter. Hardy and adaptable.

Temperature 22-26°C, pH 6.5-7.5, hardness 5-15 dGH. A minimum 120-liter tank for a group. Varied diet: flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms. Provide open swimming space and plants. Moderate filtration. Easy to keep, but beware of jumping (cover the tank).
