Care notes

A minimum 200-liter aquarium is recommended for a group of 5-6 individuals. The substrate should be fine and non-abrasive to protect the barbels. Filtration must be efficient but with moderate flow. Ideal temperature is between 22-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5, total hardness 5-12 dGH. It is omnivorous: accepts dry, frozen and live foods (bloodworms, artemia). Hiding places (rocks, roots, pipes) are essential. It is compatible with peaceful fish of similar size, but may stress very small species. Avoid aggressive tankmates. Weekly water changes of 20-30% are necessary.
