Care notes

A minimum tank size of 200 liters is needed for a group of 5-6 individuals. Ideal temperature is between 24 and 28°C, pH 6.5-7.5, GH 5-12. Fine sand substrate is recommended to avoid injuring their barbels. Hiding places (rocks, driftwood, pipes) and moderate water flow are appreciated. They are omnivorous: accept dry, frozen, and live foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp). Avoid overly calm or very small tankmates as they can be boisterous. They are sensitive to water quality; regular water changes are necessary.
