Midnight angelfish
Centropyge nox
Centropyge nox has an entirely black body without distinctive markings, with slightly darker fins. Juveniles are identical to adults. It reaches a maximum size of about 10 cm. It is a shy but curious fish, spending its time exploring crevices in the decor. It can become territorial towards other small angelfish. In the aquarium, it is generally peaceful with unrelated species. Its diet is omnivorous with a herbivorous tendency, grazing algae on rocks.

Care
Care notes
Maintain a temperature of 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, and salinity 1.023-1.025. A minimum tank volume of 200 liters is recommended for one specimen. The aquarium should have plenty of hiding places and live rock for grazing. It is sensitive to sudden parameter changes. Feed with spirulina-based foods, enriched brine shrimp, and mysis. Avoid keeping it with aggressive other Centropyge. It can be kept in a reef tank with caution as it may nip at some soft corals. Efficient filtration and moderate lighting are suitable.
