Centropyge tibicen
Centropyge tibicen has a blue-black body with a large oval white spot on the mid-back, surrounded by blue. The fins are edged with electric blue. It grows up to 12 cm. It is an active and curious fish, often seen swimming among corals. It can be territorial towards conspecifics but tolerates other species. In the aquarium, it needs plenty of hiding places. Its diet is omnivorous, with a preference for algae. It is considered relatively hardy once acclimated.

Care notes
Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. A tank of at least 250 liters is recommended. Provide a rocky decor with crevices. It can be kept in a reef tank but may nip at some soft corals and polyps. Feed with dried algae, brine shrimp, mysis, and spirulina-based preparations. Avoid cohabitation with overly aggressive other Centropyge. Good filtration and moderate water flow are necessary. It is sensitive to water quality, especially nitrates.
