Green Clove Polyp
Clavularia viridis
Clavularia viridis has bright green polyps with eight feathery tentacles, typical of octocorals. The polyps emerge from an encrusting stolon that spreads over the substrate. Each polyp is about 1–2 cm in diameter. The green color comes from symbiotic zooxanthellae. In aquariums, it can form large dense colonies. It is often confused with other Clavulariidae like Pachyclavularia. Its growth is rapid under good conditions.

Care notes
Maintain temperature 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. Moderate lighting is sufficient, but it tolerates stronger light. Moderate water flow is recommended to prevent detritus buildup. Calcium (400-450 ppm) and magnesium (1200-1350 ppm) levels should be stable. It feeds mainly through photosynthesis but appreciates supplemental phytoplankton. A minimum tank volume of 40 liters is advised. It is compatible with most peaceful fish and invertebrates.
