It is a gregarious bottom fish that lives in groups. It is very active and sifts through the substrate for food. It is known for its hardiness.

Care notes

A minimum 60-liter aquarium for a group of 5-6 individuals. Temperature 22-26°C, pH 6.0-7.5, low to medium hardness. A fine sand substrate is essential to avoid damaging barbels. A setup with hiding spots and moderate current is appreciated. Omnivorous, accepts bottom tablets, worms, and flakes. Compatible with all peaceful fish. Avoid aggressive or overly large species.
