Dwarf crypt

Cryptocoryne parva

PlantFreshwater

The leaves are lanceolate, 2–5 cm long, bright green. The plant grows slowly and stays low, not exceeding 10 cm. It spreads via underground stolons, creating a uniform carpet. Unlike other cryptocorynes, it does not develop large submerged leaves. Growth is favored by moderate lighting and a rich substrate. It may shed leaves during sudden parameter changes but recovers easily.

Care notes

Ideal temperature 22–28°C, pH 6.0–6.5, GH 3–8. Moderate lighting (0.5 W/L) is sufficient. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommended, but it tolerates plain sand with liquid fertilization. CO2 addition is not essential but speeds growth. Avoid strong currents. Compatible with most peaceful fish. Regular trimming of stolons controls spread. Beware of snails that may damage young shoots.
