Flattened Favites Coral
Favites complanata
Colonies are massive, often plate-like or flattened dome. Corallites are polygonal, 4–9 mm, with thin walls and regular septa. Color ranges from light brown to olive green, sometimes with pink hues. Polyps are small and extend at night. This species grows slowly but forms spreading structures. It is often used as a base for other corals. In aquaria, it can reach 20 cm across.

Care
Care notes
Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. Moderate lighting (PAR 100-200) and moderate to low flow. Nitrates <10 ppm, phosphates <0.1 ppm. Calcium 400 ppm, magnesium 1200 ppm. Feed phytoplankton and zooplankton 1-2 times per week. Minimum tank volume 100 liters. Avoid strong currents that may damage polyps. Compatible with peaceful fish. Fragmentation possible.
