Glossolepis wanamensis
Glossolepis wanamensis reaches about 10 cm. Males are colored red, orange, and blue, with a dark lateral band. Females are silvery. This species is schooling and lives near the surface. It is threatened by introduced exotic species in its native lake. In the aquarium, it is sensitive to water quality. Its reproduction is similar to other rainbowfish, spawning on fine plants.

Temperature 24-28°C, pH 6.5-7.5, GH 5-12. Minimum 150 liters for a group of 6. Varied diet: small pellets, brine shrimp, daphnia. Frequent water changes (20% twice weekly) to maintain very clean water. Compatible with peaceful fish. Avoid aggressive or overly active species. Decorate with fine plants and shaded areas. This species is more delicate than other rainbowfish, requiring stable water conditions.
