Laetacara flammea
Laetacara flammea reaches about 6 cm. Its body is stocky with a bright orange-red coloration on the flanks, hence its name. The fins are often marked with black and blue. Males are larger and more colorful than females. It is an active fish that explores its environment. It forms monogamous pairs and defends a territory around its spawn. In the aquarium, it is generally peaceful with other similarly sized species.

Care notes
Temperature 24-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5, GH 2-10. A minimum 50-liter tank for a pair. Decorate with driftwood, plants, and leaf litter to mimic its natural habitat. Varied diet: small pellets, brine shrimp, daphnia. Avoid overly active fish. Compatible with tetras, corydoras, and other dwarf cichlids. Weekly water changes of 20%. Breeding is easy with stable parameters; the female lays eggs on a hard surface and the male fertilizes.
