Hata's Lobed Coral
Lobophyllia hataii
Lobophyllia hataii forms massive, hemispherical colonies. Its lobes are thick and rounded, with fleshy polyps that extend at night. Coloration ranges from green to brown, sometimes with red or purple hues. It is a slow-growing but hardy coral. It can reach 30 cm in diameter in an aquarium. It prefers moderate lighting and moderate flow. It is generally peaceful but may extend its polyps to shade neighbors.

Care notes
Stable parameters: temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. Calcium maintained at 400 ppm, magnesium at 1300 ppm. Moderate lighting (PAR 100-200) and moderate flow. Feeding: photosynthetic but appreciates zooplankton (Artemia, rotifers) 1-2 times per week. Minimum tank volume 100 liters. Compatible with most reef fish, avoid coral-eating fish. Fragmentation possible but delicate. Beware of sudden parameter swings.
