This gourami can reach 50 cm in aquariums. Its body is massive, gray-silver with dark vertical bands. It has a labyrinth organ. It is relatively peaceful but can become aggressive towards small fish. It is omnivorous and has a large appetite. It builds a bubble nest. Its growth is rapid. Its lifespan is 10 to 15 years.

Care notes

Temperature: 24-28°C, pH 6.5-7.5. A minimum tank size of 500 liters is essential. Moderately hard water (GH 5-15). Varied diet: large pellets, vegetables, worms, shrimp. Provide powerful filtration and regular water changes. It can coexist with other large peaceful fish. Avoid very small species. A heavy lid is necessary. Species for experienced aquarists.
