Pomacanthus maculosus is a spectacular angelfish reaching 50 cm. Adults have a blue-purple body with a broad vertical yellow bar in the middle, and yellow fins. Juveniles are dark blue with white lines. It lives in reefs of the Indian Ocean and Red Sea. In aquariums, it requires a very large tank and a diet rich in algae and sponges. It can be aggressive towards conspecifics.

Tank of at least 600 L with large rocks and strong filtration. Very stable water, low nitrates. Diet: algae, spirulina, mysis, brine shrimp, and sponge-based foods. Avoid small fish and invertebrates.
