Porites porites

CoralMarine

Porites porites forms massive, dome-shaped or encrusting colonies with very small polyps. Color ranges from beige to brown, sometimes pale green. It is very tolerant of parameter fluctuations. It can survive in more turbid waters. In aquaria, it is ideal for beginners. It does not require intense lighting. It can be used as a substrate for other corals.

Care notes

Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.0-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. Moderate lighting (PAR 100-200) is sufficient. Low to moderate flow. Calcium 380-450 ppm, magnesium 1200-1300 ppm. Alkalinity 8-12 dKH. Nitrates <20 ppm, phosphates <0.1 ppm. Can be fed phytoplankton or small particles. Very resistant to diseases. Slow growth, no frequent pruning needed. Compatible with most fish and invertebrates.
