Procambarus alleni is a medium-sized crayfish (10-15 cm) from Florida. The blue variety is the most popular in the hobby, but the wild form is usually brown. It is a hardy and active species, but can be aggressive towards tankmates and bottom-dwelling fish. It digs burrows and requires a soft substrate.

Care notes
A tank of at least 80 liters with a sandy substrate for digging. Provide hiding spots (pipes, rocks). Water must be well-filtered and oxygenated. Avoid cohabitation with slow or bottom-dwelling fish. Feed with crustacean pellets, vegetables, worms, and meaty foods.
