Pseudomugil furcatus is a small rainbowfish reaching up to 5 cm. It has an elongated translucent body with iridescent blue highlights. Its dorsal and anal fins are forked, hence its name. Males are more colorful than females, with longer fins. It is a schooling fish that lives in groups. It is active and peaceful, compatible with other small species.

Care notes

Keep a group of at least 6 individuals in an aquarium of at least 60 liters. Water should be soft to moderately hard (GH 5-15), pH 6.0-7.5, temperature 24-28°C. Gentle filtration and moderate lighting are recommended. The aquarium should be well planted with open swimming areas. Feed with fine foods (flakes, micro-pellets, brine shrimp). Regular water changes (20% weekly) are important. Avoid strong currents. Compatible with other small peaceful fish.
