Descripción
The ocellaris clownfish has a bright orange body with three vertical white bands edged in black. The dorsal fin is tall and rounded. It reaches up to 8 cm. It is a protandrous hermaphrodite: all juveniles are male, the dominant one becomes female. It lives in a hierarchical group with a dominant female. In the aquarium, it often accepts artificial anemones. It is very hardy and adapts well to captivity. It can be aggressive towards intruders in its territory.

The ocellaris clownfish lives in symbiosis with sea anemones, mainly Heteractis magnifica and Stichodactyla gigantea. It is found in lagoons and protected reefs, between 1 and 15 m depth.

Aquarium of at least 80 L, stable seawater (salinity 1.020–1.025, pH 8.1–8.4, temperature 24–28 °C). Omnivorous, feed with pellets, brine shrimp, and algae. It is recommended to keep it as a pair or in a small group. An anemone is not mandatory but appreciated. Avoid aggressive fish. Regular water changes are important. It is sensitive to high nitrate levels.
