Descripción
Apistogramma atahualpa reaches 5-6 cm. Males are very colorful with red and blue dorsal and caudal fins. Females are duller. It is territorial but peaceful. It prefers very soft, acidic water. Breeding is similar to other Apistogramma, with maternal care.

Tank of at least 60 liters. Very soft water (GH 1-5, KH 0-3) and acidic (pH 5.0-6.5), temperature 24-28°C. Many hiding places. Diet: brine shrimp, daphnia, small pellets. Sensitive species. Compatible with other small peaceful fish. Breeding in a species tank.
