Descripción

Apistogramma hongsloi reaches up to 7 cm. The male is spectacular with an orange-yellow body, red dorsal and caudal fins edged in blue, and a black stripe through the eye. The female is smaller, pale yellow with a black lateral stripe. It is a territorial species but generally peaceful with similarly sized fish. The female lays eggs in a cave and becomes very aggressive to protect the spawn. It originates from acidic waters in Colombia.

Notas de cuidado

Aquarium of at least 80 L, acidic water (pH 5.5-7.0) and soft (GH 2-6). Temperature 24-28°C. Moderate filtration, low flow. Varied diet: live, frozen, pellets. Provide hiding places (pots, roots). Compatible with tetras, corydoras, other peaceful apistogrammas. Avoid overly active or aggressive fish. Easy breeding in pairs.
