Descripción
Apistogramma nijsseni reaches 5-6 cm. Males have highly developed dorsal and caudal fins, with blue and yellow colors. Females are smaller and yellow with a black spot. It is peaceful but territorial. It prefers very soft, acidic water. Breeding is typical, with female guarding eggs.

Tank of at least 60 liters. Very soft water (GH 1-5, KH 0-3) and acidic (pH 5.0-6.5), temperature 24-28°C. Many hiding places and leaf litter. Diet: brine shrimp, daphnia, small worms. Sensitive species. Compatible with other small dwarf cichlids. Breeding in a species tank recommended.
