Caridina typus reaches about 3 cm. Its body is light brown to grayish with fine longitudinal lines. The legs are long and thin, adapted for walking on the substrate. It is an omnivorous species feeding on detritus, algae and small invertebrates. It lives in groups in calm areas of rivers. Reproduction is oviparous, females carry eggs for 3-4 weeks. It tolerates a wide range of parameters, making it an ideal species for beginners.

Varied diet: flakes, pellets, vegetables, biofilm. Peaceful species, compatible with other shrimp and small fish. Avoid carnivorous fish. Enjoys plants and hiding places. Weekly water changes of 10-20%.
