The Two-spot wrasse is named after the two black ocelli on its dorsal fin. It is a lively and colorful fish, suitable for community marine aquariums.
Descripción
This small wrasse has an elongated body and an olive-green to brownish base color. It is distinguished by two black spots ringed with blue on the posterior part of the dorsal fin. Males display brighter colors with blue lines on the head. The caudal fin is rounded. It feeds on small benthic invertebrates that it dislodges from sand and rocks. It is an active fish that constantly swims in search of food. It buries itself in the sand for protection and sleep. Its behavior is generally peaceful, but it can be territorial towards other wrasses.

An aquarium of at least 150 liters with a sandy substrate is necessary. Ideal temperature is 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4. This wrasse is carnivorous and enjoys frozen foods such as mysis, brine shrimp and small crustaceans. It can be kept alone or as a pair if the tank is spacious. It cohabits well with peaceful fish of similar size. Avoid dwarf shrimp and small crabs. Moderate lighting and moderate to strong flow are recommended. Weekly water changes of 10% are sufficient.
