Descripción
This fish reaches up to 12 cm and has a fusiform body. Its base color is beige to light yellow, with four longitudinal brown or black stripes. The fins are often tinted with blue. Males are larger and have more developed fins. It is a monogamous species that defends a territory around a cave. It feeds on small crustaceans and insects. Spawning occurs in a cavity, and both parents care for the eggs and fry. In aquariums, it can coexist with other similarly sized species.

Parameters: 24–26°C, pH 7.8–8.5, GH 8–15, KH 6–10. A minimum tank of 120 liters is recommended for a pair. Carnivorous diet includes brine shrimp, bloodworms, and pellets. Weekly water changes of 20% are sufficient. Filtration should be moderate. Rocky decor with caves is essential. Compatible with other Julidochromis or peaceful cichlids. Avoid very aggressive fish. Breeding is easy in aquariums if conditions are stable.
