Descripción
Neocaridina davidi is a shrimp of the Atyidae family, measuring 2-3 cm. The wild form is brown/gray, but selective breeding has produced red (Red Cherry), yellow, blue, etc. varieties. It is peaceful and lives in groups. It feeds on algae, detritus, and leftover food. It breeds easily in freshwater, with females carrying eggs under the abdomen. It is an excellent cleaner for planted tanks.

Red cherry shrimp live in slow-moving streams, rice paddies, and ponds, with dense vegetation and a leaf litter bottom. The water is soft to moderately hard, slightly acidic to neutral. They hide among plants and debris.

Easy to keep: temperature 18-28°C, pH 6.5-7.5, GH 4-8, KH 2-5. A well-planted tank with hiding places (moss, leaves) is ideal. Avoid predatory fish. Feed with shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and mineral supplements. Breeding is easy if parameters are stable. Beware of copper-containing medications.
