Descripción
The halfmoon triggerfish has an oval body, dark brown to black, with a curved white band on the flank. It has a dorsal spine. It is moderately aggressive, often territorial. It feeds on invertebrates and algae. In aquariums, it is hardy but requires a large volume. It can reach 30 cm.

Minimum tank volume 400 liters. Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, alkalinity 8-12 dKH. Diet: omnivorous, will accept frozen foods, shrimp, fish pieces, and algae. Less aggressive than some triggerfish but can be territorial. Compatible with other robust fish. Avoid invertebrates. Needs rocks to hide. A lid is recommended.
