The barrier reef clownfish is an endemic species of the Great Barrier Reef region, with an orange-brown body and two white bars. It is moderately territorial and associates with Heteractis anemones.
Descrição
This clownfish has an orange-brown body with two vertical white bars: one behind the eye and one on the caudal peduncle. The fins are light orange. It reaches up to 13 cm. It is a semi-aggressive species that defends its anemone but tolerates other fish if space is sufficient. It lives in pairs or small groups. In an aquarium, it requires an appropriate volume to avoid conflicts. Its coloration resembles that of Amphiprion chrysopterus but lighter. It is appreciated for its hardiness and ease of adaptation.

Water parameters: temperature 24–28 °C, pH 8.1–8.4, GH 8–12 dGH, KH 8–12 dKH, nitrates < 20 ppm, phosphates < 0.1 ppm. A minimum 120-liter tank is recommended for a pair. Omnivorous diet includes brine shrimp, mysis, flakes and pellets. This species is compatible with similarly sized reef fish, but avoid very shy fish. It accepts anemones but can do without. Moderate lighting and efficient filtration are required. Weekly 10% water changes are important. Monitor parameters to avoid nitrate spikes.
