The cockatoo dwarf cichlid is a dwarf cichlid with spectacular fins, especially in males.
Descrição
Males reach up to 8 cm, females 5 cm. Males have large fan-shaped dorsal and caudal fins with elongated rays. Colors vary from yellow to red, with black spots. Females are smaller and yellow. Territorial but can coexist with other peaceful species. Very interesting to observe.

The cockatoo dwarf cichlid lives in clear, acidic waters of Amazonian forest streams, with a bottom of leaves and branches, and dense vegetation.

Temperature 25–29°C, pH 5.5–7.0, low hardness. A minimum 60-liter tank for a pair. Water must be well filtered and stable. Décor with driftwood, oak leaves, and plants. Diet: small live or frozen foods, pellets. Compatible with peaceful tetras. Avoid overly active or aggressive fish. The female is very protective of eggs.
